MES GmbH celebrates its 25th anniversary

Expansion of production technology to innovative Industry 4.0 solutions successfully mastered

From the location service provider of Mehler AG to the global specialist for systems engineering and Industry 4.0: MES celebrates its 25th anniversary on July 26, 2019. While traditional manufacturing technology was still in the foreground in the founding years, the company today offers highly innovative solutions for production sites in the field of plant engineering, plant construction and Industry 4.0.

MES was spun off in 1994 as the former operating technology and maintenance department of Mehler AG. At the beginning specialized in services for the parent company, the company developed into an independent, globally operating specialist for plant development and plant equipment.

The employees take care of customers around the world from the plastic, textile, packaging, paper, healthcare, automotive, metal and food sectors. The focus of the MES was initially on mechanical and electrical engineering as well as automation technology. Due to the constant further development and expansion of the company, the reorientation for the drying and finishing technology business area started in 2008 in addition to the existing plant planning, plant construction and automation technology business areas.

Entire plant relocated to Romania for customers

One of the largest and most demanding projects was the relocation of a brake pad factory from Great Britain to Romania. For TMD Friction, the world's leading manufacturer of friction systems, a complete plant was relocated to the new production facility while production was ongoing. Despite the special and extensive project, all appointments from dismantling and transport to commissioning took place on schedule.

MES used its specialist knowledge of building plants and production facilities and relocating machines and systems for numerous other TMD plants, both nationally and internationally. The TMD plant in Hamm, Westphalia, is the largest location in the world for the production of disc and drum brake linings for heavy commercial vehicles after the entire machine park has been relocated from Sweden.

Another project to be highlighted is the construction of an infrared heating system for Bosch Siemens Household Appliances (BSH). This is the fastest heating system that BSH has ever put into operation.

Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory

In order to adapt to technological developments and to meet customer requests for solutions for the digitization of production, MES has developed the Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory area. We offer products for Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory that help manufacturing companies to digitize and analyze their production data in order to realize growth potential. "Digitization represents a great opportunity to further secure and expand the long-term success of our customers", says Thomas Steinwachs, Managing Director of MES.

An important point is the step-by-step retrofitting of an existing production system for entry into the smart factory world. From analog data acquisition to IIoT for analytical recommendations for action, we accompany you step by step.
